Description:

Erygmascope is a collaboration between artist Tracy Hill, poet Ralph Hoyte, and Phil Phelps, musician, coder and audio-engineer. The title is taken from the name of a late 19th-century piece of apparatus designed for the examination of the strata of earth. The team have put together a series of 15 second snapshots that provide an unseen version of our Carbon Landscapes, offering a chance to look beyond the surface and consider alternative visual and sonic responses to our wetland environments. Explore theses re-interpretations of wetland ecologies using the link below – the combination of sound and image encourages us to look beyond the surface of these complex environments, best experienced with your room lights dimmed and your device volume on high!
